windowless Paris lab part deux

tomorrow I will be heading to Paris again to 'collaborate' with the crazy smelly woman. I swear that if the microscope and program aren't working, I'm going to scream, that is if I have a voice left to scream with... I started losing it Saturday night. I just hope that I don't go mute like I did last Christmas... I hate losing my voice and am hoping this doesn't become a yearly tradition. Anywho, this weekend was fairly relaxing. I stayed home on Saturday to do laundry while Sai took Joe and Stephan to Basel for an all day train-beer-american food extravatrain trip. Then on Sunday, Jacqui, Joe, Stephan and I helped install Jen's lights and hem and hang curtains.

Here's Joe and Stephan looking super manly... especially with their facial scruff. I then got yelled at for taking pictures because I scared them with the flash... so, this is all you get of Jen's awesome apartment.

So yes, tomorrow morning I head out to Paris. Hopefully I don't lose my mind like I did in December. If I do, I'll just go shopping.

cute little baby & boys beard update

For the first time in the 2 weeks since we've been back, I have a few minutes to blog. It's been quite crazy since I got back. All of a sudden my advisor is really interested in finishing off my first paper- probably because she realizes that I need to finish up my thesis in the next 3 months! So I've been busy keeping up with her corrections to the text and creating new figures...lots of real work time on the computer. It hasn't helped that I got a cold this past Monday and haven't slept well the past few nights thanks to my ears clogging up. But I'm feeling better today, so I'm happy to be on the road to recovery!
Yesterday was a busy day. I went to visit a colleague in Geneva who had her baby just after we flew to the states for Christmas. Marielle, the baby, is adorable and she and her mom, Margo, are doing great.

Then, I went directly from Geneva to the caveau in Lutry where Kristen organized an outing because she has a friend visiting from the states. It was fun to see everybody all together, especially Joe, Adrian and Stephan because they're all growing beards... It's funny to see them all so hairy.... here is how furry they currently are:

back to the grind after Christmas 'vacation'

As is always the case, Christmas vacation was a hectic 2 weeks of running errands, visiting friends and family, and gorging ourselves like american pigs. This year we even managed to squeeze in a job interview for Joe, bridal shower for me, lots of wedding planning crap and New Year's Eve in Philly with Adrian and Rachel. I'll post pictures as soon as I can...currently I can't figure out how to get the pictures off of our new Olympus camera which seems to not have an easy drop and drag configuration with my card reader... must bring cable next week to upload pictures. I do have a few pictures from my mom and Jillian gave me pictures from the shower which are right here!
