Weird Al Concert

As I wrote on Facebook, we were in the 15th row and looking around the audience I never felt or looked so normal. Even though Joe dragged me there, it was a pretty entertaining show. He had more costume changes than (I presume) Lady Gaga. I spent the night trying to score a few photos of the concert in the terrible lighting that is a concert venue with our point and shoot. And I actually got a bunch good ones!!

-Smells like Nirvana

-You're pitiful... the parody of "You're Beautiful"... he stripped off a bunch of Tshirts and then this was the big reveal when the pants came off.
-This was a song of terrible and cheesy pick-up lines. He actually came into the audience during this song and with our aisle seats, I can now proudly say that my husband was mere inches (while I was mere feet) from Weird Al
-Amish Paradise... his bandmates got dressed up, too.
-"Fat"... the parody of "Bad"
-The encore presentation of 'Yoda' and the parody of "American Pie" called 'the Saga Begins'... Joe's feeding me these titles as I'm typing...

Toobin' in Texas

Over Memorial Day weekend, a group of us went down to Austin to go tubing, aka toobin'. It was a lot of fun and we had a great time on our 1.5h float (and capsize) down the San Marcos river. I'm so glad that I went!!

-I look like I should be in a 5os synchronized swimming event

Thank you Jacqui & Jen!!

Joe was working late today, so I rushed home before the leasing office closed to pick up some packages that were delivered today. While I was waiting, I noticed that one of the girls had an amazing bouquet of flowers on her desk. After one of the girls helped me carry all 4 packages up to my apartment, I saw a note in the door reading it aloud to the girl helping me with my packages "your flowers are in leasing off" at which point she replied, "oh those are your flowers." They are absolutely amazing!! Thank you so much ladies!!!

Birthday weekend.....

Had a bit of a rough week at work, but thankfully the week ended with a fun birthday. On Thursday night, Joe took me to the symphony to see Carmina Burana. Even after 10 years (my choir performed it on our European tour in 2000), I remembered so much of the music. When I got to work on Friday, I found that my desk had been saran-wrapped by one of my work friends, complete with Easter candy.

For lunch, the girls at work took me to out to my restuarant of choice.... La Madeleine. As if that wasn't enough french inspired cuisine, Joe treated me to dinner at Tramontana. I was so excited that duck was on the menu!!

On Saturday morning, Joe bought me flowers at the new fancy flower shop near work. And then we went out to celebrate with my birthday twin, Deb, who had already organized a birthday party at one of the local pubs.

Vacation!

Hello everybody... I clearly haven't been posting much lately, but I finally had time to throw some of the pictures from the cruise into Lightroom and uploaded them onto Flickr. There are plenty more (in addition to pictures from NYE) that I need to get around processing, but I hope these tide you over for a while, at least!

new link to pictures that should work!! Stéph, let me know if it still doesn't work!

Merry Christmas!!!

It actually snowed here in Dallas on Christmas Eve and so we woke up to a white Christmas in Dallas!! I think the newscaster said it was the first white Christmas in 80-some years! We had a relaxing and quiet day. We slept in, opened presents, made dinner and now I can't remember what we did... maybe watched a movie? In all, it was a nice relaxing weekend!

-Snow on the balcony

-Presents under out Christmas tree

-Joe roasted a goose!!
-Christmas dinner

-For dessert, we had the world's largest Reese's cup...

Pecan picking!

The weekend of Thanksgiving, Jill, Christine, Joe and I went for an adventure picking the state nut of Texas... the pecan!

Basically, we went to a pecan farm, where this family has about 10 acres of land in front and behind of their house, to pick pecans. It was a little drizzly in the morning, but not too bad. Thankfully we went in the morning, because it was really raining by 2pm.

Out in the orchard:

Finally convinced Joe to take a picture of me with the pecans:

Of course, an artsy photo:

Hopefully pictures of the Christmas tree and my wreathe tomorrow! (or the next day)

It snowed in Dallas...how crazy!

On December 2nd (Happy Birthday Linda!), we woke up to big wet snowflakes! It was so awesome to see, but sadly they didn't stick since the ground was too warm.... maybe next time!

Thanksgiving!

For Thanksgiving, I ordered a heritage turkey, which is more like a wild turkey and wasn't bred/genetically engineered to have massive breasts. Pickup was at an organic farmer's market out in the suburbs, but when I got there, it turned out that the farmer's market was actually just a tent set up in the yard of a farm. But it was awesome, because there were chickens and guinea fowl running around the yard and let me get super close to them.

As I've done the last two Thanksgivings, I again brined the turkey for a day. Here it is drying before getting dressed and ready to go into the oven:

and getting dressed in a layer of butter and cheesecloth:

It's already November! Pt 3: Halloween #2- Christine & Anthony's party

boo, boo!! On Halloween, Christine and Anthony threw a joint 'housewarming/going-away party'.

-My pumpkin this year!

-Will(emina) and Joe

-Joe, the hippie, and I'm the she-devil

-Michael Vick, Easy Rider, and a witch
-GI Joe

-Bobbing for apples

It's already November! Pt 3: Halloween #1- Cedar Springs Block Party

boo! The weekend before Halloween, the gay and lesbian community annually throws a huge halloween block party. We hung out at Brenda's house, before walking over to the block party.

-Joe and I are hippies... yes, it's my same costume from 2 years ago

-Ingrid, Christine and Joe
-Bananas in Pyjamas, Jill & Anthony

-Innapropriate behavior from the Banana(r)s

At the block party, we saw all kinds of costumes: big and small; funny and serious; appropriate and only appropriate for the LGBT community...those I'll post only on flickr at some point, since they're not really appropriate for the faint of heart ;)

-somebody seriously owns an awesome Big Bird costume
-A couple dressed up as Sloth & Chunk from Goonies

-Little Bo Peep and her lost sheep (who also managed to shave their chests and legs)
-Not sure what these are....dalmatians or cows?...but I do think they're all men
